Sat Ride, Pt 2

This is where the fun began.

A moment to rest.

And this was an easy spot!

The top of the final descent, 17 more switchbacks to go.

Saturday Ride: Lost Trail to Warm Springs

This was the "epic" ride of the month. In and out of the clouds, along, up, and down the ridge lines. Rocky, muddy, sandy, grassy, narrow switchback trails with near shear drop offs and no trees to stop your fall if you go off. To top it off, there were good steep climbs and descents of madness! Ride time was about 3.5 hours.

Eery looking trees in the clouds.

Fire ran through the area in 2000.

You can see the trail going around the mountains on the right.

Warm Springs - Part two.

One of the many stream crossings, and this was the easiest.

Rocks, rocks,

and more rocks.

There's fear in his eyes!

Thursday Night RIde - Warm Springs

Getting ready to head out, the guys loading the mules and horse had just come out of the valley after clearing downed trees - a very common obstacle.

Lots of rocky sections and scree.

Looking back from where we came.

Thursday Night Ride - Bass Creek

A couple of shots of the flat sections, sure wish I could have gotten pics of the climbs and descents!

Still plenty of snow on the peaks and up the canyons.

Saturday's ride up Sleeping Child

A nice ride with a steady uphill to the end of the road.
Lots of nice farms along the way.

Riding into the Sapphire mountains, the canyons get narrow and steep.

Thursday night ride, Fred Burr canyon

A ride up the Fred Burr canyon. Quite a rocky road mixed with some fun and tough single track.
We last rode this just over a month ago, and there was still more than a foot of snow and ice on the road, now there are streams like this crossing, and running down, the road, and at times more than a foot deep. Cold water!

The lake at the end of the trail.
Pano of the lake.
A little Stella to rejuvenate after the ride.

Monday's Ride

This is a pano from my Memorial Day ride.
Looking North with the Bitterroots on the left.
It is up a little from the valley floor, and on the way to the Grubstake.
