Riley when she was one

With Riley's birthday coming up, I started to look back at some old pictures.  Here she is just before her first birthday having fun with Husky.
Husky would lick her face, and she would sit back laughing, then she would stick her face up close so Husky would lick her again.

Having a little too much fun

Riding in the Root at the Fair

Horse riding at the fair.  This was a little play area where Kaia and Riley tested their roping skills.

The last load.

This should be the last load of firewood for the season.

Riley was a big help loading the smaller logs which I am going to use to build a simple bridge over our stream.
The nice thing about a one ton truck is that a little bit of weight in the back hardly affects the ride hight, but, the ride itself is pretty harsh.

Tree Planting

Riley helping me dig the hole.
She fits perfectly.

Firewood Fun

Getting some firewood for winter....
Beatle killed trees.  These were about 80" tall.

Buttercup ride.

Thought I'd post the video from the last half of last Thursday's ride.  This is my first attempt at using and editing a GoPro video.  I ran out of disk space on my computer, so there is no music at the end; and on top of that, I had the underwater case on the camera so the audio is muffled.  Well, today's ride video should be better.

Ride pictures from Fred Burr

We rode the Fred Burr trail a few weeks ago and found that it had been graded and smoothed out on the road sections.  One of the fun aspects of the trail was fact that it was so rocky and wet.  Well, now it is quite a bit smoother, and consequently a lot faster.  Bummer...

Heading out.

Spring flowers in Montana, a buttercup?

The climb.

Fred Burr is known for the many stream crossings on the road.  Sometimes they aren't too bad, sometimes they can be real gushers.  This wasn't too bad.

Fred Burr Panoramas

This is a shot of the Fred Burr Creek.  I took another one in January where it was mostly frozen over.

Another pano of the lake.  Just after we got to the lake, the rain and wet snow started to move in, which you can see in the background.  Somehow, even though we left right away, we got hit by heavy rains most of the way back to the cars.

Lake Como Trail Exploration

Did a little trail exploration at Lake Como for the Thursday night ride.

This is a fun little section down a small canyon.

Start of the rocky section.

A little practice after the ride.

Quick Ride At Como

Well, we've been riding since daylight savings, but I just haven't gotten my act together to post any pictures.  Though it has been warming up during the day, and it doesn't look like it from these pictures, but there is still some snow on the trails.  We are steadily moving up and deeper into the mountains each week.  Soon, all the trails will be rideable, and the ticks will be out en-force!

The ride around Como is fairly diverse, with tight technical tails and plenty of rocks to keep you on your toes.

The South side is densly forested and quite rocky.

And provides a few streem crossings.

The North side is quite a bit easier, and is a nice fast ride back to the cars after much concentration on the trail we just left behind.  Of course, we are going so fast, that I never get any pictures...
